Chemical Etching for Prototypes

Chemical Etching is an ideal process for prototyping because of its short lead time and inexpensive tooling. For processing, multiple design iterations of the same thickness can be included on one phototool and etched at the same time. Half-etched bend lines can be added to designs to assist in the forming process, sometimes even eliminating the need for additional forming tools.

Speed = Expedited parts can be etched as quickly as 2-3 days.

Standard Phototool Cost = $350

Minimum Lot Charge = $350 for 1-3 etched sheets

Tecomet Inc. has over 20 years of experience in the chemical etching industry and has helped many projects move from research and development into production. The same tooling and process is used for prototype and production parts, so development work is relevant and reliable. Tecomet Inc. is also willing to share etching knowledge to help develop the best possible product. Design feedback and feasibility can be provided on any design.

If the product is beyond the conventional limits of etching, a joint research project can be conducted to pursue a new or modified process. For information about Tecomet's etched part prototypes, contact us today!
